Antique-ing

My momma and I got a kick out of this... she said my great-grandmother used to call them "courting benches". Apparently they kept the temptation down to a minimum- no cuddling! My husband and I have decided if we have daughters... one of these goes on the front porch. :)

Aren't those so neat! I've seen those before...and that is what I've heard them called too.
A definite must-have with my girls...I've got 2 so far...

Lots of love,
Sommer

I always wondered what those benches were for. With 7 nieces and my daughter so far, my family is definitely going to have to invest in one of those! Well, that is if the mamas can convince the daddys that their little girls will have to get married eventually (but not until they're at least 40!)...

Ha, ha! The 'courting bench' reminds me of the 'courting chair-lifts' we saw on a skiing trip last winter--they had a pole coming up through the center, keeping the Courter and Courtee a good three inches apart. ;)

I remember seeing one of these in "An Ideal Husband" in the proposal scene with Minnie Driver adn thought they were so cute!! I would love one of those!

I am so glad that married life is agreeing with you :)
