A very worthy read

This is a long article, but very worth your time in my opinion. I too have been utterly shocked by the toys of some 5 year olds these days. My husband and I yesterday took a walk down the toy aisle to try and find a board game. We were bombarded by images of dolls that I can't imagine a mother with sense even contemplating buying her daughter. Harsh, I know, but these dolls are TRULY shocking. They would make any decent grown woman blush.

Thank you for sharing that article. I have 2 step-daughters and a baby girl and I am very particular about what and what kind of dolls they are allowed to have (and all other toys). Several dolls received as gifts have made it directly to the trash. I wish people would understand the kind of impact these things have their children. I am raising Maggie to know what a woman of God truly is. One of her presents from me was a child's mop and broom. : )

That is a good article. I appreciate his critique of the American Girl dolls. When I was a small girl, and the dolls were still produced by Pleasant Company, they had such a different focus! It makes me nostalgic and a little sad to see the Pleasant Co. ads in my old "Victoria" magazines that featured sweetly dressed girls playing with their dolls in quiet solitude. Nowadays the American Girl catalogs have a totally different feel -- less historical focus and with a definite feminist agenda.

Hi it's me again. I sent you a U2U on Sense and Sensibilty but not sure if you got it. Do you mind if I put a link from my blog to yours? I find such good inspiration and Godly wisdom I would like to share your site with others.
