Finally!

A picture of the finished product, which I happily wore to church on Sunday:

I ended up just making a skirt out of the pattern, since I wear my skirts SO much more than I wear my dresses :)

Now I'm busy working on some *new* projects (lol) and trying to make a list of everything I need for our 10 day trip! I don't think I've ever packed that many clothes before. Does anyone have any good tips for packing well for a long trip? I'm trying not to take too much... so I'm thinking some "mix and match" will work well...

Mix and match always works best. I try to take things that match back to one color family, like black or brown. For example I like to take a black skirt, denim one or two, and then maybe a print for the skirts and then shirts that will match back to all of them. If you stay with one color family you do not have to worry about shoes matching either. If everything matches black you will only need shoes that are black. I hope that makes sense and helps.

Congratulations on reaching the end! It's lovely, Lauren, and we're only sorry that we missed seeing you in it on Sunday. :( Maybe next time!

Praying for you as you plan/pack for your trip!
Talk to you soon,

Lauren! That is such a pretty skirt! You did a fantastic job! :) Lynn's suggestion to mix & match is really good. Think about whether you're going to be able to do laundry on your trip as well. If you can, you don't have to take as much stuff, because you won't be seeing the same people for the whole ten days anyway. Can't wait to see you! :)

Very pretty Lauren! I hope you have much success packing for your trip. I do think mix and match would be the best way to go, and don't forget about maybe choosing fabrics that don't wrinkle too very much. Or just bring a fabric steamer I guess. :)

Well, less is more. You can wear your close more than once, and if you have to, you can wash them in the tub with some shampoo. When I went to Europe for 6 weeks, I packed all carry on. It makes the trip sooo much easier. Oh, and rolling your clothes, instead of folding will save you space and wrinkles :-)

Your skirt is beautiful! I love how full it is and the color combination looks perfect on you. I tend to be a low-bulk packer so yes, mix and matches are great. A nice dress for when you need one, a few casual skirts that can be dressed up with small accessories and some shirts that will go with any of the skirts, plus a sweater/shawl or two is all I usually take whenever I have gone someplace. I hope you have a lovely time on your trip!

Good afternoon Lauren! Regarding your comment ~ Thank you for your kind thoughts. We are all feeling a bit better and hope to get everything back to normal tomorrow. I lived for a few years in Oklahoma and can fondly remember the springtime warmth of the south! You'll find this true of married life: the years do fly so quickly, but they get sweeter as time goes by! :)

We just got back from our vacation (about 10 days). Since I knew there would be some laundry facilities available I planned on doing laundry back at the campground once or twice, and I actually packed more than I needed anyway. 4-5 shirts was plenty along with two skirts, a pair of jeans, and a pair of capris. I also kept shoes to a minimum. Tevas meant no need to bring socks. Other than that I just took a pair of beach flip-flops and a pair of nice flip-flops.

This was the first time I bothered camping in skirts, and I loved, loved it. I even went bike riding around the campground in my skirts. It was so much fun.

Hope you enjoy your trip!
