Who is your all-time favorite author and why?
Too Easy :) Miss Jane Austen. I love that *every* book ends in a happy marriage. And every love story is so sweet. The families are endearing, and none of the "modern" problems plague those gals! I'm now in the process of finishing up Mansfield Park- I decided to try to read all of her books this year.
Who was your first favorite author and why? Do you still consider him/her to be among your favorites?
First Favorite Author... definitely Beverly Lewis. I still consider her to be among my favorites to be sure. I love the stories of Amish communities and families- the lives in the book are simple and yet complicated. Wonderful stories!
Who is the most recent addition to your list of favorite authors, and why?
Hmm... I'd have to say L.M. Montgomery. I hadn't read Anne of Green Gables or the rest of the series until earlier this year (I know! Shocking) but I fell in love with them when I began the series. I've read the first three and I have plans to continue on with them as soon as I'm done with my last Austen.
If someone asked you who your favorite authors were right now, which authors would first pop out of your mouth? Well, the ones listed above :) and Debi Pearl since I'm slowly making my way through Created to be His Helpmeet.

Who is your all-time favorite author and why?
Miss Susan Warner who wrote under the name of Elizabeth Wetherell (author of The Wide, Wide World, The Letter of Credit, etc.). She wrote Christian stories, often about a young girl who learns to truly love and live for Christ. Her books are full of strong moral values and real to life lessons. Since they are old and out of print, finding them is often an adventure!
Who was your first favorite author and why?
Since we grew up loving books, we have several favorite authors from our childhood:
Laura Ingalls Wilder (watched the movies too and even got to visit the last home of Laura while on a vacation)
Lois Gladys Leppard, author of the Mandie books- historical fiction with mystery. Always fun and hard to put down!
Martha Finley, author of Elsie Dinsmore - pure and wholesome fiction.
Carolyn Keene, author of Nancy Drew mysteries- one of Jaimee's favorites.
All the American Girl Books
Patricia St. John's books, especially Treasures of the Snow (Mom used to read her books to us while we ate lunch)
Oliver Optic and Horatio Alger books - old fiction with a strong moral lesson to learn
Elizabeth Prentiss - author of Stepping Heavenward
Who is the most recent addition to your list of favorite authors, and why?
We began reading Jane Austen's books about five years ago - Pride and Prejudice is at the top! Beth Moore is also a newer author to us; we love how she emphasizes the Word of God and have appreciated her radio program (which now airs on oneplace.com). Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of the Anne books. Elizabeth Gaskell's Wives and Daughters is one of Jennifer's *new* favorites - only took her 4 months to read, but it was so enjoyable! C.S. Lewis is of course a great author.
If someone asked you who your favorite authors were right now, which authors would first pop out of your mouth?
The ones listed above of course, AND, Isabella MacDonald Alden (wrote Ester Reid's Awakening, plus many other favorites), Amy Carmichael, Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Elisabeth Elliot and many wonderful Christian biographies.
We love to read. :)
Most of your favorite authors are also my favorite authors! I read many of Beverly Lewis's books when I was younger and was caught up in the lifestyles she depicted among the Amish folk. I also love L.M. Montgomery and Jane Austen. . .you have GREAT taste in books! :) LOL
Yay for Jane Austen and L.M. Montgomery! :) And I'll bet the fact that you didn't grow up with the "Anne" books will give you a different perspective on them. I've just re-read a few, and remembered why I like them so much ;)
