The finished Polka Dotted Dress

I've been quite delinquent lately about posting pictures of the actual *finished* products of my crafting :) Without further ado, here's the navy polka dotted dress I made for a friend's wedding. The picture is a little out of focus, but it will have to suffice, since I didn't take any others!

Sadly, I was more than a little disappointed with the quality of the fabric. Even though it was more pricey than I would normally pay in the store, it was thinner and more cheap feeling when it arrived than anything I've ever bought. Sigh... once again, I was struck by The Perils of Online Fabric Buying. I think I'll stick to JoAnn's from now on... and this time I mean it!

You look lovely, Lauren! I'm sorry that the fabric didn't turn out so well, but the polka-dots sure are cute!

Your dress looks lovely - very feminine and flowing. I am sorry to hear that the fabric wasn't what you would have liked. What is on the agenda for the next crafting project?

Oh, I like your previous post about wondering if modesty changes with the weather. I live in the DFW area of Texas and when I see the 96 degree mark, I try not to think of cooler, shorter outfits.

It looks lovely! I'm sorry it wasn't what you were hoping for though...I know that can be so frustrating! I want to know what's next too...did you finish your black wrap yet?

I love polka dots! It looks great even if it didn't turn out as you expected.

As a side note, did I miss your post about the Tea Cup Fair? I'll post about my tea cups this week and send you a link.

Please let me know! :)

That is so sweet! It looks so feminine and lovely. I'm sorry the fabric didn't turn out the way you wanted, but it looks delightful.

Such a pretty dress, Lauren! I'm sorry the fabric wasn't all you wished it to be, but it looks beautiful. What pattern did you use to make it?

(This is Gillian - "tonks21" - from the S&S boards, by the way)

It's beautiful! I too am sorry for you that the fabric was a disappointment - I've been there, done that, yet still take chances! :( It's so hard to know what's good and what isn't. The finished dress is adorable, I love the trim at the hem and the darling polka dots!

Lauren, it would be nice if you stood so we can see the whole effect of the dress. To cute! You did a beautiful job!

What a lovely dress!! The polka dotted fabric is so cute. It's a shame about the quality of the fabric, though. :( I remember some fabric I bought for a quilt once, that was so thin it pulled apart every time I had to take a seam out *and* the color bled when I prewashed it. Ugh.

Wow...that dress is almost enough to inspire me to learn how to sew! But maybe I'll look for something like that on sale in the store = )

I'm so happy to have found your blog! I know that I have many days of enjoyable reading ahead of me.

I've been a homemaker for over 22 years now...couldn't be happier with my career choice!

Lauren,

Greetings from Onatario, Canada! I followed the link to your blog from the Homeliving Helper blog, and have truly enjoyed reading the journal of your first year of marriage. How exciting!

I know this may seem awkward as we don't know one another, but I wanted to thank you for encouraging me to be unashamed in my desire to be a homemaker. I am hoping to cut my work hours way back and be in the home most of the time before the end of the year. If the Lord lays it on your heart, pray for your sister in Canada that her husband would be supportive of her desire to fulfill the role God has called her to. And I'm learning to sew, too! :)

I've got your blog bookmarked now and look forward to more encouragement! :)

God Bless,

Nicole
