Some Scripture on Children

1. "Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate." -Psalm 127: 3-5

2. "
And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also." -Genesis 38: 8-10

3. "Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.
For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.
Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.
The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.
Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel." -Psalm 128

4. "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth." -Genesis 1:28

5. "But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck." -Luke 23: 28-29

6. "Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth." -Malachi 2: 14-15

7. "Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven." -Matthew 18: 10

8. "I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully." -1 Timothy 5: 14

9. "Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety." -1 Timothy 2: 15

10. "And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth." -Genesis 9:1, and again 9:7

11. "And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them." -Genesis 24: 60

12. "Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished." -Jeremiah 29: 6

Some Christmas Crochet

I made this hat for Colin's mom- in white, with the yarn I used from last year to make her a scarf for the woven in border. All done and mailed off today!!

Here I am modeling it... since it looks quite funny when you just set it down for a picture.

This is the pattern I used- and I HIGHLY recommend it! I just loved crochet-ing it up.

Filled to the BRIM with girlish glee...

Yes, I am. A time of day when I'm normally the happiest (when sweet hubby comes home from work) was made doubly exciting today. I received my order from the Ribbon Jar. I think their website is just lovely, and the ribbons came packaged up so cutely. With wonderful names like Heliotrope and Mermaid, I should have known they'd be beautiful... the colors are just shimmery and wonderful. I know- you're thinking to yourself right now- who gets this excited about ribbons? Well, I do. I've been wearing them in my hair since... I had hair. And double sided satin has become extremely hard to come by. When I saw the Ribbon Jar website, I knew I must order some. 1 yard of each of 15 mm ribbon is a perfect length for bows and headbands. I got every color. If my hair could smile... I'm pretty sure it'd be grinning from ear to ear right now.

An All Picture Post

This is what I can only describe as a truly ridiculous caramel apple from the Riverwalk. Yum.

Me and my sweet friend Rita on the Riverwalk.

Hiking last Saturday on Enchanted Rock... if you can't tell, there were hurricane force winds on top of the mountain! That bandanna was originally holding my hair in place, until poor hubby's ears got too cold... and we got creative.

A sweet Christmas craft from Rita!

What I've been up to lately...

And today I was blessed to have the sweet Lavin girls over for lunch. Here is our best work with the camera timer!

The Nutcracker

My momma and I enjoyed a very fun "girls night out" where we went to dinner on the Riverwalk- yum! And then headed over to the Nutcracker. Definitely a night that my daddy and my husband didn't mind missing out on. The Riverwalk is SO beautiful this time of year- so many lights! If you are ever in San Antonio for Christmas, it's a must see. The Nutcracker was truly enjoyable. We even happened to run into some sweet friends there- an unexpected blessing!
Here is a shot of the Riverwalk as the sun was going down and the lights were coming on!

Happy 6 Months!

This may seem like a small occasion to most. But to a girl who looks forward to even the tiniest holidays (read: Happy 1 week anniversary! Happy 1 month anniversary!) this seems like a real accomplishment. I thought I'd do a little post on my top ten things about being married. Tee hee.

1. Being woken up by a person every morning, not an alarm clock. This is fantastic for me, but not always that great for sweet hubby, who learned quickly that I'm just not a morning person. In fact... I'm not really a person at all until I have a warm cup of coffee in my hand.
2. Brushing my teeth with someone. As you can tell... its the little things. And we have two sinks. Neat.
3. Laughing with my hubby. He's just so funny.
4. Being able to gaze into his beautiful blue eyes. Ah, so charming he is.
5. Reading the Bible together at night before we go to bed. It's my favorite part of the day.
6. The fact that he puts up with my more than slightly 'granola' and crafty self. I try not to go too crazy with that stuff... but well, you know.
7. Really getting to know him. You really just can't truly know a person until you live with them. No matter how much you talk on the phone before!
8. Realizing what an amazing man he is. Strong, courageous, forgiving, protective, smart, and so good at loving his very imperfect wife.
9. Watching him grow spiritually.
10. Knowing that you married a man that someday, Lord willing, will be an wonderful father. They just don't make men like my hubby anymore :)

Oh Christmas Tree....

"the people dwelling in darkness
have seen a great light,
and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death,
on them a light has dawned."
Matthew 4:16

Colin's grandparents VERY kindly gave us their Christmas tree!! It has lit up (tee hee) our apartment with Christmas cheer.

We couldn't hang our stockings on a fireplace... so I painted one :) They hang on the wall next to the tree!

And of course... the snowman forest. I was thinking of putting a feather boa around the bottom to be "snow", but I think that might be too tempting for a certain furry friend of mine.

I'll try to have the tutorial up in a few days for the skirt!
