These are a few...

of my favorite things! Emily inspired me to write my very own "favorite natural things" list- and being as that I am *so* exhausted all the time, and I'm certainly not crafting anything lately... here goes!

1. Origins Organics Foaming Face Wash
My sometimes fitful skin that can't decide if it's oily (with breakouts) or dry (with eczema patches on my eyelids!) loves this stuff. It's expensive, but I use one pump a night, and I think the bottle with last me at least six months. Which makes it LESS expensive than the other stuff I was using!

2. Origins Totally Pure Organic Deoderant
Lets just say... I need deoderant. I've tried other natural brands, like Tom's of Maine. They don't touch me. So I switched back to the regular stuff- but when I found out about our wee one, I decided to give this a shot- and I *love* it. It works. It really, really works.

3. Tom's of Maine Lavender Body Wash
The most cost effective natural soap I've found out there, and a lovely smell. :)

4. EO Lavender Hand Soap
Nice and foaming, too! I was convinced to buy this after reading a regular hand soap label. Ew. Yuck. Chemicals galore!

5. Seventh Generation Kitchen Spray
This has hydrogen peroxide in it, which helps with those icky white countertops they feel the need to put in apartments. One drop of tea or juice will dye the countertop in approximately 4 seconds.

6. Seventh Generation Dish Soap
Lemongrass and Clementine, and it works like a charm. I didn't have alot of luck with the dishwasher soap though... it may be because our dishwasher is older and apartment brand... but it didn't work out.

7. Pure and Basic Lavender Body Lotion
Hmmm, I could only find a link to the body wash online, but you get the basic idea :)

Today I bought my first natural shampoo and conditioner. I guess my nose has gotten more sensitive because of baby- but my other shampoo... the smell now makes me sick. So, I'm going to give this a shot too! It's the Whole Foods 365 brand and it's the natural mint scent. I have my first midwife appointment on monday- I would really appreciate prayers! :)

Great list Lauren! I think you've inspired me to do one now...I never had luck with the Seventh Generation dishwasher stuff either...but we do use their trash bags and toilet paper and both work comparably to their main line alternatives. Thanks for the tip about the deodorant...I'll have to look into that one! Good luck with the new shampoo too...I've never had much luck with natural ones as they leave my hair to greasy. I want to try the vinegar and baking soda methods... But I know what you mean about the smell! I had to splurge big time to get a very yummy Herbal Essence one when I was pregnant with Jenny...it had to not only smell nice, but hide the "hot water" smell that made me soooo sick. lol Ah, what we do for our babies, huh?
Good luck with your midwife appointment!! I know the first one is the hardest, but try to relax, as they'll probably want to take your blood pressure. ;) Remember the most important thing is that you feel comfortable with them...you have to be able to trust them completely to be able to relax and "enjoy" your birthing! Let me know how it goes please!
Hugs,
Tilly

This was a very interesting post since I don't know much about all natural products (probably since I think I can't afford them!) :)

I'll be praying that your appointment goes well on Monday!

I used Stacy Lewis and Joi Brock just over two years ago. I felt the Lord lead me to them. I miss the so much. Praying that hubby will change his heart about having more children so i can use them again. (not just that) I have a friend i met online that is moving here from the Dallas area that is using them and has been driving down here once a month for that. How funny that was to find out.
I hope you enjoy your first appointment.

That is a great tip about the kitchen spray. I have a terrible time with our beige countertops staining.

I will be praying your appointment goes well. The first one is kind of scary! :)

Hey Lauren. Thanks for sharing your list. Good luck with the natural shampoo. I have started using my natural shampoo and bad for you Pantene conditioner. It seems to be helping with my overly dry "natural" hair. I too like the 7th Genenration dishsoap. I have no dishwasher (other than myself) so I haven't tried the dishwasher soap.

Please oh please tell us about your midwife visit. I am still so thrilled about your pregnancy. If you don't mind my asking are you planning a homebirth, birth center or hospital birth???

That was a great list Lauren! I try to use all natural products, but often they don't work(like the deoderant..ick!)or they are beyond my budget. Perhaps though, I will try some of these out.

I pray that your appointment goes well and that you are pleased with your midwives. I've been thinking of you and how you are with your pregnancy.

Lots of love,
Sommer
